We stayed here for 1 night as we had tickets to a concert at the SSE Hydro Arena. It was about 15 minutes walk away, and about 25 minutes walk into town (although taxis were cheap and efficient – it costs around a fiver to get to Glasgow Central train station) Check-in was efficient and friendly. We had a ground floor room at the back of the hotel which was very quiet as it was away from the main road. It was spotlessly clean and very nicely decorated. The bathroom was very modern, again very clean and the shower was wonderful. The bed was very comfortable. We paid £8.50 each for the buffet breakfast, and it was good value in my opinion. There was plenty of cereals, yoghurt, fruit juice, toast and jam, and the usual fry up items such as sausages, bacon, mushrooms, scrambled eggs, potato scones, beans, tomatoes, and black pudding. It was all replenished frequently and there was table service for tea & coffee. The restaurant staff were friendly and attentive. We were very impressed with the hotel and the staff, and would not hesitate to stay here again next time we visit this wonderful city.
Terrific breakfast! Thank you. We had a nice time.
“Wonderful weekend stay”Reviewed 15 May 2013
This was a great little hotel. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the room spacious, clean and comfortable- everything in working order. The breakfast was great, with a wide selection and good service. It’s also a very convenient location, 15 mins walk into central city, right near parks and good transport links to the airport via bus.

Rated: ExcellentEveryone very friendly and helpful.
The staff, especially Patricia and Kristy went out of their way to accommodate me!Thanks for the early check-in as I was up for over 40 hours at that time! (Work travel)After 21 straight working days, sleep was more important and there was no noise in the room whatsoever!Great food in the Sutherlands restaurant downstairs, great service, great price, very happy.Very comfortable too! Your service matched your very enjoyable city, I was impressed as it turned out to be very friendly, very safe. I’ll spend more time here next chance I get!
Although perhaps a bit elderly, the Argyll gives excellent service and comfort. Ideally placed close to the centre of Glasgow, it offers a comfortable stay at very reasonable prices.
I recently stayed here for with a few friends for a girls weekend away. we arrived at the hotel too early to check in but the receptionists were more than happy to store our luggage away for us which was great. The hotel is quite far from the city centre but only took us about 15 mins on foot. Taxis are very reasonable though if needed. The room for four of us was spacious and very clean. Our room faced the street so there was some noise but nothing that kept us awake. The breakfast in the morning was good and filled us up for a second day of shopping!
A warm and friendly welcome, a spotlessly clean room, great food, excellent!
