Rated: Outstanding Very helpful receptionists, very comfortable and quiet room. Was accommodated on request for a twin, a quiet room with a bath. Thank you!
Room 302 very quiet, clean and confortable. Staff very kind and helpfull. Very warm welcome. Breakfast was excellent! Dining room very comfortable, and evening staff very kind. Diner very excellent (Scottish coffee was very good!) We have tested both the hotel and the B&B. Both of these are very comfortable addresses to stay in Glasgow, easy to find, quiet places, near all facilities. Next stay should be to test the famous “detective evenings” of the Murder Mystery!!!
We had a lovely room, (apparently recently renovated). The bathroom was roomy and modern and our bed was very comfortable. Staff were all warm, friendly and very knowledgeable. Perfect location, especially if you need to be close to University of Glasgow campus. We enjoyed dinners at the Firebird restaurant and The Butchershop restaurant, both of which within walking distance of hotel.
Great hotel, friendly staff, reception – outstanding, helpful and had local knowledge.
This was our second visit and was even better than last time. I shared a huge triple-bedded, double-aspect room with my daughter that was lovely and clean. High ceilings, big windows and plenty of space made for a light and comfortable room. We paid slightly extra for breakfast and that was thoroughly worth it as it was genuinely the best I’ve had. Everything was laid out in the main hotel (there are rooms on both sides of Sauchiehall Street) with lots of choice. You help yourself but the meat and non-meat stuff is kept separate. I recommend ordering porridge (porridge, kippers and poached/boiled eggs are to order). Fried potato cakes instead of fried bread was delicious. We all enjoyed those! The breakfast staff were friendly and helpful, and really couldn’t do enough to help, without being at all invasive. Breakfast is served in the restaurant which is below ground but there is a lift. The room was nicely decorated and comfortable. Argyll Hotel is situated very close to the Kelvingrove Museum in the West End of Glasgow so has heaps to do close by. The site seeing bus stop is 100 yards away. There is some hotel parking but we parked on the wide road to the side of the hotel which cost £2 for the rest of the afternoon, and was then free after 6pm on the Friday for the rest of the weekend. Considering its on one of the main streets of the city, we didn’t feel we were in the city centre as Kelvingrove Park next door is beautiful with all the trees and open spaces. It was easy to get back on the motorway too. We’re already planning a trip back for next year. We had a brilliant time so thank you Argyll Hotel. Also, if you’d like an evening drink, pop on over to the Snaffle Bit across the road….
The Argyll was just exactly what we wanted and where we wanted. Everyone was so sweet and helpful. The fish and chips at the restaurant were excellent. Laurie was so patient and nice. And the room rates were extremely reasonable. Whenever we are in Glasgow we will definitely come back.
Enjoyable stay, convenient for our price range. Will return definitely! Thanks!
Warm, clean, comfortable, 1 night stay and it was perfect !!!
Good that you had a car park. Staff very helpful. Enjoyed our breakfasts and dinner. Not too far to walk into the shopping area.Thought Glasgow was a friendly lace and enjoyed our short stay.
Nice, cosy room for a single person and a one night stay. Hotel is in an excellent location. Enjoyed my stay and above all slept well. Patricia on reception was very helpful.
