“Murder mystery dinner evening…….fabulous night!”Reviewed 6 March 2013
Booked a murder mystery dinner night for my husbands 30th and it was brilliant!wasnt really sure what to expect but the night was well organised, the food tasty and the staff very pleasant. The hotel is nice inside and for our size of party(20) the room was a perfect size. We would definitely go back again and would highly recommend it. It didn’t go on late maybe about half ten so you could go out after but we just stayed on for a few drinks. The price was £45 a head which was brilliant. They order the food in so its not restaurant freshness but it was still very nice and great sized portions. If in doubt try it out!!
- Stayed February 2013, travelled with friends
Rated: Outstanding Breakfast staff was very warm and attentive.
Lovely hotel and staff. conveniently situated to where we needed to be. Would stay there again and would recommend it to friends and family making a trip to Glasgow. Thanks for making my overnight stay hassle free. Only stayed overnight while attending a concert at the new Hydro. Plenty of places to eat in the immediate area. Art galleries, park and museum were nearby, which we used to fill the few hours we had before we left for the hydro. A shame we didn’t have longer, which certainly makes for booking another trip.
I would just like to say a massive thank you for the Murder Mystery evening on Saturday the 26th of March. It was so well delivered and organised and the menu was simply gorgeous. The acting was of a very high standard and the people delivering the evening had a really good manner when relating to our group, which made it such good fun and very relaxed. Overall, it was a very enjoyable evening and your staff couldn’t have been nicer. Thank you for organising it.
Really enjoyed our stay. The manager at breakfast was excellent, attentive, nothing too much trouble. Reception staff excellent and very helpful.
The receptionist made our stay very memorable.
An inexpensive, clean, friendly hotel, local to the SECC with some parking behind the hotel and plenty of inexpensive street parking in front. Short taxi ride to the City Centre. Easy to get to from the Motorway.
Wonderful service! Great taxi system too – I was travelling without a UK phone so it was really convenient to be able to call through an automated system in the lobby. Very cosy and pleasant atmosphere, and wonderful staff. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.
We had an excellent stay and will use this hotel again. All of the staff were very welcoming.
This was our second visit and was even better than last time. I shared a huge triple-bedded, double-aspect room with my daughter that was lovely and clean. High ceilings, big windows and plenty of space made for a light and comfortable room. We paid slightly extra for breakfast and that was thoroughly worth it as it was genuinely the best I’ve had. Everything was laid out in the main hotel (there are rooms on both sides of Sauchiehall Street) with lots of choice. You help yourself but the meat and non-meat stuff is kept separate. I recommend ordering porridge (porridge, kippers and poached/boiled eggs are to order). Fried potato cakes instead of fried bread was delicious. We all enjoyed those! The breakfast staff were friendly and helpful, and really couldn’t do enough to help, without being at all invasive. Breakfast is served in the restaurant which is below ground but there is a lift. The room was nicely decorated and comfortable. Argyll Hotel is situated very close to the Kelvingrove Museum in the West End of Glasgow so has heaps to do close by. The site seeing bus stop is 100 yards away. There is some hotel parking but we parked on the wide road to the side of the hotel which cost £2 for the rest of the afternoon, and was then free after 6pm on the Friday for the rest of the weekend. Considering its on one of the main streets of the city, we didn’t feel we were in the city centre as Kelvingrove Park next door is beautiful with all the trees and open spaces. It was easy to get back on the motorway too. We’re already planning a trip back for next year. We had a brilliant time so thank you Argyll Hotel. Also, if you’d like an evening drink, pop on over to the Snaffle Bit across the road….
