“The staff are great – warm, friendly & helpful and the room and facilities were very good.”Reviewed 9 February 2013
I checked into this hotel at very short notice for two nights (6th & 7th February), due to a bad experience and unanticipated check out at another hotel on the same street (no heating or hot showers). The lady on the front desk was great – professional, helpful, warm and friendly, offering me a lovely room, despite lack of notice. The room was lovely – warm, clean, large, with a four poster bed. The bathroom was also large, moder, very clean with a good hot shower and plenty of decent towels. The breakfast was very good. The lady managing the breakfast area was very professional and was very helpful, warm and thoughtful – a real credit to the team! I had a great stay and would recommend this hotel to friends and colleagues.

I liked being away from the city. Enjoyed my stay very much. All staff members were helpful and friendly. The room was clean. Breakfast was great everyday.
The help in the dining room during our breakfast was very good.
This was our second visit and was even better than last time. I shared a huge triple-bedded, double-aspect room with my daughter that was lovely and clean. High ceilings, big windows and plenty of space made for a light and comfortable room. We paid slightly extra for breakfast and that was thoroughly worth it as it was genuinely the best I’ve had. Everything was laid out in the main hotel (there are rooms on both sides of Sauchiehall Street) with lots of choice. You help yourself but the meat and non-meat stuff is kept separate. I recommend ordering porridge (porridge, kippers and poached/boiled eggs are to order). Fried potato cakes instead of fried bread was delicious. We all enjoyed those! The breakfast staff were friendly and helpful, and really couldn’t do enough to help, without being at all invasive. Breakfast is served in the restaurant which is below ground but there is a lift. The room was nicely decorated and comfortable. Argyll Hotel is situated very close to the Kelvingrove Museum in the West End of Glasgow so has heaps to do close by. The site seeing bus stop is 100 yards away. There is some hotel parking but we parked on the wide road to the side of the hotel which cost £2 for the rest of the afternoon, and was then free after 6pm on the Friday for the rest of the weekend. Considering its on one of the main streets of the city, we didn’t feel we were in the city centre as Kelvingrove Park next door is beautiful with all the trees and open spaces. It was easy to get back on the motorway too. We’re already planning a trip back for next year. We had a brilliant time so thank you Argyll Hotel. Also, if you’d like an evening drink, pop on over to the Snaffle Bit across the road….
Home from home. All staff are first class. Beds so comfortable. Stayed last year, very central location. This hotel doesn’t need anything else. Marisol at reception – a real gem.
The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and cosy. The breakfast was very good and the waiting staff very friendly. Had a lovely bar meal last night and enjoyed the pear cider. I will hopefully be back soon!
I rate the reception 10/10 and more. Lovely warm atmosphere, very professional, no problem was too difficult. The housekeeping was excellent as well. The breakfast – stunning. As a TV director I have filmed many cooking TV shows. Your breakfast and service was fabulous – Linda and the team were wonderful. I film all over the country and stay in different hotels every week. My seven days here have been a spectacular delight. What a lovely surprise to discover one of the best hotels I have ever been in. I will tell all my friends!
The duty manager was wonderfully kind and understanding when we arrived to discover we had booked for the wrong date. Front desk was excellent.
My overnight stay was very satisfying and would recommend highly. I can definitely praise Patricia, Bobby and Laurie in the bar.
Very pleasant stay – would recommend to friends staying overnight in Glasgow.
