Celebrating all things about the famous River Clyde in Glasgow the hugely popular Glasgow River Festival provides a colourful opportunity to celebrate the past, present and future of Glasgow's historic waterfront with two days of free family entertainment.

The festival on the river provides a mixture of water and land activities and entertainment in and around the SECC, Glasgow Science Centre and The Tall Ship 'Glenee'. All within walking distance of the Argyll Hotel in Glasgow.

In and around The Tall Ship, the SECC and the Glasgow Science Centre you will find a whole host of varied entertainment and activities for all the family. Live music and dance, funfair rides, street entertainment and colourful arts performances will be on offer.

The Glasgow Fair holiday is during the last fortnight in July and dates back from the 12th century and derives from the Fair held at Glasgow Green. Until as recently as the 1960s, most local businesses and factories would close on 'Fair Friday' and workers and their families
would go to popular holiday destinations, often only 20 miles (32 km) away on the Firth of Clyde.

Nowadays, fewer local businesses close down for the Fair but Glasgow still has a few special festivals for both locals and visitors to enjoy.
