Lovely, well kept hotel. Great breakfast.
The staff were very helpful. The rooms were clean. The breakfast was really good. The hotel is really useful for the SECC. That was the purpose we used it for, and would certainly use the hotel again.
Excellent value for the price.
Staff was incredibly good. Rated everything outstanding.
The staff, especially Patricia and Kristy went out of their way to accommodate me! Thanks for the early check-in as I was up for over 40 hours at that time! (Work travel) After 21 straight working days, sleep was more important and there was no noise in the room whatsoever! Great food in the Sutherlands restaurant downstairs, great service, great price, very happy. Very comfortable too! Your service matched your very enjoyable city, I was impressed as it turned out to be very friendly, very safe. I’ll spend more time here next chance I get!
Couldn’t offer anything else, absolutely perfect. The lady on reception was very welcoming on Tuesday afternoon.
We stayed in room 102 which is a double room on the ground floor. On arrival we were greeted by the very friendly receptionist who told us how to find the room and told us about the breakfast option. The room was very clean and in good decorative order and was a fair size. Being at the back of the building it was very quiet as its away from the main road. The bathroom was excellent and was one of the best i’ve experienced in a hotel of this type. There was the usual tea/coffee making facilities as well as a flat screen tv with freeview channels. As I said before the room was incredibly quiet which meant we had no problem sleeping in the very comfortable bed. We had the breakfast which was an all you can eat buffet style with all types from a fry up to cereal and toast with tea, coffee and fruit juices on tap. The food was very good and the staff were constantly keeping you topped up with tea and coffee and cleaning away used plates and cutlery. The location is perfect for anyone visiting the SSE Hydro arena being a 15 minute walk from the venue. I have to say £75 for a double room this close to the wonderful city centre on a Saturday represents excellent value for money and would recommend this hotel to anyone. My one and only very small observation is the size of the bath towels which barely wrap round you but this in no way detracts from this excellent hotel.
This was our second visit and was even better than last time. I shared a huge triple-bedded, double-aspect room with my daughter that was lovely and clean. High ceilings, big windows and plenty of space made for a light and comfortable room. We paid slightly extra for breakfast and that was thoroughly worth it as it was genuinely the best I’ve had. Everything was laid out in the main hotel (there are rooms on both sides of Sauchiehall Street) with lots of choice. You help yourself but the meat and non-meat stuff is kept separate. I recommend ordering porridge (porridge, kippers and poached/boiled eggs are to order). Fried potato cakes instead of fried bread was delicious. We all enjoyed those! The breakfast staff were friendly and helpful, and really couldn’t do enough to help, without being at all invasive. Breakfast is served in the restaurant which is below ground but there is a lift. The room was nicely decorated and comfortable. Argyll Hotel is situated very close to the Kelvingrove Museum in the West End of Glasgow so has heaps to do close by. The site seeing bus stop is 100 yards away. There is some hotel parking but we parked on the wide road to the side of the hotel which cost £2 for the rest of the afternoon, and was then free after 6pm on the Friday for the rest of the weekend. Considering its on one of the main streets of the city, we didn’t feel we were in the city centre as Kelvingrove Park next door is beautiful with all the trees and open spaces. It was easy to get back on the motorway too. We’re already planning a trip back for next year. We had a brilliant time so thank you Argyll Hotel. Also, if you’d like an evening drink, pop on over to the Snaffle Bit across the road….
Dear Receptionist Please find enclosed one hotel door key which I forgot to hand back, on checkout day 17.10.13 sorry for having done this. I would like to take this opportunity of expressing our thanks for such a welcoming two night stay. We found all staff so helpful and the food was excellent. I would certainly recommend your hotel to others, as its excellent value. Yours Sincerely B. Johnson
E had booked in to the Alba Lodge, once we arrived we found it was not suitable for wheelchairs. We have been very comfortable here and have enjoyed our stay. Linda – first class service. She has been very attentive towards my mum. A big thank you – she is a star x 4!
