Scotland’s National Arena at the SECC
Scotland’s National Arena is a new Glasgow indoor arena currently under construction in the west end of Glasgow, Scotland.
The new Glasgow Arena will be situated to east of the existing SECC complex.
Designed by architects Foster and Partners Scotlands national Arena will be used for concerts and other entertainment events and will
seat 12,500. The arena will also be used for sporting events for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Scotland’s biggest indoor events space is currently Hall 4 in the SECC which can hold 10,000
Like the Clyde Auditorium, the arena has been designed from the inside out. Visitors will enjoy sightlines from each of the 12,500 seats and the acoustics will be of the highest standard.
This Scottish National Music Arena will be UK’s third largest indoor venue.
The 12,500-seater Glasgow arena has been created as a national arena for Scotland and designed to be among the finest entertainments venues in Europe.
Seating for events will be in a mix of fixed, tiered seats and flexible demountable seating systems.
The new Arena will provide an outstanding indoor venue for concerts and performances. A highly flexible building, it is designed to accommodate a wide range of events – from pop concerts to grand theatrical shows.
Whilst the Scottish National Arena will focus primarily on entertainments events, its flexibility will enable it to stage large and small concerts, children’s shows, ice shows and sporting and other spectator events. It will offer the public an enhanced entertainments experience; there will be a wide range of food and drink outlets throughout the arena to keep queuing times to a minimum as well as a number of private boxes that can each accommodate up to 12 people who can wine and dine in comfort before and after a concert or event.
Scotland’s National Arena is also known as the National Entertainments Arena. It is planned for completion in 2012
