Here are a number of reviews from various websites and comments that have been left in our Guestbook in reception here at the Argyll Hotel.
A friendly, clean and comfortable hotel.
We occupied room 106 which was clean and comfortable. Our purpose was to settle in and introduce our disabled granddaughter to the nearby University and her lodging in preparation for her study year at the nearby University. The room was very tasteful, the beds comfortable and the room pleasantly quiet.
A very pleasant stay!
This was our second visit and was even better than last time. I shared a huge triple-bedded, double-aspect room with my daughter that was lovely and clean. High ceilings, big windows and plenty of space made for a light and comfortable room.
We paid slightly extra for breakfast and that was thoroughly worth it as it was genuinely the best I’ve had. Everything was laid out in the main hotel (there are rooms on both sides of Sauchiehall Street) with lots of choice. You help yourself but the meat and non-meat stuff is kept separate. I recommend ordering porridge (porridge, kippers and poached/boiled eggs are to order). Fried potato cakes instead of fried bread was delicious. We all enjoyed those!
The breakfast staff were friendly and helpful, and really couldn’t do enough to help, without being at all invasive.
Breakfast is served in the restaurant which is below ground but there is a lift. The room was nicely decorated and comfortable.
Argyll Hotel is situated very close to the Kelvingrove Museum in the West End of Glasgow so has heaps to do close by. The site seeing bus stop is 100 yards away. There is some hotel parking but we parked on the wide road to the side of the hotel which cost £2 for the rest of the afternoon, and was then free after 6pm on the Friday for the rest of the weekend.
Considering its on one of the main streets of the city, we didn’t feel we were in the city centre as Kelvingrove Park next door is beautiful with all the trees and open spaces. It was easy to get back on the motorway too.
We’re already planning a trip back for next year. We had a brilliant time so thank you Argyll Hotel.
Also, if you’d like an evening drink, pop on over to the Snaffle Bit across the road….
This was our first visit (myself and my daughter who has special needs). Had read mixed reviews after making our booking and was a little worried…Good location for West End/uni and City Centre. We also had the dual aspect room (3 single beds) Comfy, quiet and spotlessly clean, thought it was absolutely brill, excellent value, staff friendly and obliging. Thought the Scottish themed decor was a plus given that we were on holiday from away.Booked our breakfast (cheaper) online, again excellent. Taxi to the airport (£12.50) was better value and handier than the 747 bus. Would happily stay here again and would highly recommend this hotel.
Came to Glasgow to watch “The Killers” at Bellahouston park . Three ladies staying for two nights . We didn’t want right in the city centre and this hotel ( a shyer taxi ride away ) suited our needs .
On arrival check in was fine , no car park space , parked just round the corner and so not a problem .
The hotel is next to a pub but it wasn’t noisy at all .
Our room on the second floor was ENORMOUS !!!! Two single beds and a double …. Decor lovely traditional Scottish tartan ( royal Stewart with a wall plaque to explain ) . Bathroom new and modern . Only gripe about room was not enough coat hangers for three/ four people ( as the room is meant for ) .
Breakfast was lovely , plenty of choice whether you wanted light continental style or full English ( yes still called that in Scotland) . Staff were pleasant and attentive .
The carpets on the stairs were a bit worn and tired looking but everything else was fine .
Lots of restaurants and bars on the streets behind the hotel . We ate at several and were not disappointed . Taxi to Bellahouston park ( which was about 20mins away ) was only
£6 . We three thoroughly enjoyed our mini break and would stay here again .
Recently attended one of the hotel’s “murder mystery” evenings to celebrate my hen do. Were not disappointed! The staff could not possibly have been more friendly or attentive to myself and my guests. Every effort for us to enjoy our evening was made. Excellent customer service took away any stress of planning such an event. The entertainment was fantastic! In such a cosy hotel, wonderful atmosphere. It really was everything I could have hoped for, our party did not stop laughing throughout and we all had such a brilliant time. The food was delicious. Some of our party had allergies and dietary requirements which again, the hotel fully catered for. This is greatly appreciated! Anyone looking to enjoy a murder mystery event should definitely visit, excellent value for money and will recommend highly.
Stayed August 2014, travelled with friends
Nice, cosy room for a single person and a one night stay. Hotel is in an excellent location. Enjoyed my stay and above all slept well. Patricia on reception was very helpful.
The hotel was very good value for money. the room was clean, tidy and comfortable. The cokoed breakfast was of a very good quality. Yay
We stayed at the Argyll Hotel because we were going to a concert at the Clyde Auditorium. It ticked all the boxes being 10/15mins walk from the venue with loads of places to have an early evening meal and a lovely wine bar to have a drink on the way home. I have to say that for an hotel in the middle of a city it really was excellent value and we would definitely use it again
I would like to praise the blonde lady who served me breakfast on 20/11/13.
She was most friendly and helpful and the breakfast she provided was excellent and was served by her in a very efficient and courteous manner.
I felt she really cared about all the guests and this made a massive difference!!
This lady is a brilliant ambassador for the Hotel and I was not surprised to learn from her that a lot of guests return regularly.
A lot will do so because of her.
Great little hotel, obvious that the owners are involved, as it’s well looked after, and there is attention to detail. Breakfasts the best I’ve had, staying in this part of Glasgow – freshly cooked, by a chef who obviously cares and isn’t just going through the motions of having to feed loads of people breakfast every morning! And the waiting staff for breakfast are friendly and really helpful.
