The Kelvin Hall International Sports Arena located in the west end of Glasgow near the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, is a listed Victorian building and the Kelvinhall Sports Arena is within a five minute walk of the Argyll Hotel.
The previous building on the site was originally built as the Industrial Hall for the 1901 Glasgow International Exhibition at Kelvingrove Park however the building burnt down in 1925.The present Kelvin Hall was completed in 1927 and it was originally used to house large scale exhibitions, including the Industrial exhibitions of the Festival of Britain in 1951. Over the years it has also hosted motor shows, modern homes exhibitions and the world renowned Kelvin Hall Circus.
After the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre opened in Glasgow, the Kelvinhall was modernised and it is currently home to both the International Sports Arena and the Glasgow Museum of Transport.
The Kelvin Hall with it’s indoor international sports arena is used frequently for international athletic meetings, boxing, and badminton competitions.
