April saw the announcement that the SECC Glasgow will play host to the MOBO Awards on

April also saw the Argyll Hotel receive a High Commendation Plaque at the" Let Glasgow Flourish Awards" held at the Trades Hall Glasgow
for the hotels exterior floral displays during 2008. Jim is working hard on an award for 2009!

Inspired : Mitchel Library
Inspired is an exhibition of art inspired by the life and works of Robert Burns to mark the 250th anninversay of the year of his birth. The exhibition will include work by around 50 contemporary artists, representing not only the UK, but also Russia, Israel, Australia, Japan and the USA. WQell known artists such as Tracey Emin and Ed Ruscha will feature as well as established Scottish artists, including Douglas Gordon and Peter Howson. The contemporary work will be presented alongside a small collection of previously unseen relics. The exhibition represents a facinating and unprecedented way to convey the influence and relevance of Robert Burns' work in the present day.

Sunday June 21st : Glasgow Men's 10K

Organised by the Men’s Health Forum Scotland Scotland’s fourth national 10k event for men will take place in Glasgow on Sunday June 21 (Father’s Day). Over 3000 men took part in 2008 and over 4000 participants are expected for 2009.

A multicultural family festival, based on traditions of the Indian sub continent.

Glasgow Mela at Kelvingrove Park is the city’s largest multi-cultural festival celebrating the ethnic diversity of Scotland. Celebrating its 18th birthday this year, the Glasgow Mela regularly attracts 25,000 visitors and is a focal point of Scotland’s cultural calendar.

Bard in the Botanics – that is the Botanic Gardens Glasgow, is Scotland’s annual Shakespeare festival. This year it returns with a host of new productions offering laughter, drama and passion set against the stunning backdrop of Glasgow’s Botanic Gardens. This year’s festival includes performances of the ultimate battle of the sexes, “The Taming of the Shrew” (24th June – 11th July), the Bard’s most dangerous and thrilling tragedy, “Macbeth” (15th July – 1st August) and his most chilling and charismatic baddie, “Richard III” (16th July – 1st August).
