Glasgow, Scotland, a city renowned for its friendliness looks forward to welcoming new and old friends from the Commonwealth nations for the Commonwealth Games from Wednesday, 23 July to Sunday, 3 August 2014.
Scotland’s capital, Edinburgh, has already hosted the Games in 1970 and 1986 and after a successful campaign Glasgow was awarded the Commonwealth Games for 2014, at a meeting of the Commonwealth Games Federation in Sri Lanka in November 2007.
The 2010 games are being held in Delhi.
Scotland has taken part in every Commonwealth Games since the started as the British Empire Games in 1930 and many of our sportsmen and women have won numerous medals throughout the years.
