Gallery Of Modern Art : Glasgow
The Gallery of Modern Art known as GoMA opened in 1996 and is housed in an elegant, neo-classical building in the heart of Glasgow city centre. GoMA is the second most visited contemporary art gallery outside London. GoMA displays work by local and international artists.
The building at Royal Exchange Square was refurbished to house the city’s contemporary art collection, and is an appealing combination of old and new architecture. It incorporates a number of artists’ commissions.
The Gallery of Modern Art continues to evolve, developing existing and attracting new audiences. The rooftop has now changed into a dedicated Education and Access studio, facilitating workshops and artists talks for all ages.
In the basement is the Library at GoMA. Complete with its cafe, free Internet access terminals, multimedia, art, and general book-lending facilities, the Library complements the contemporary visual art focus of the Gallery.
