Botanic Gardens Glasgow
Glasgow Botanic Gardens are situated at the top of Byres Road in the west end of Glasgow. They are within a short walk of the Argyll Hotel
The Botanic Gardens lie between the River Kelvin, Great Western Road and Queen Margaret Drive and the gardens can be accessed on foot from Great Western Road, Queen Margaret Drive, Kirklee Circus and from the Kelvin Walkway.
The Botanic Gardens are known internationally for their impressive glass houses and extensive tropical and temperate plant collections from around the world and are a popular venue for visitors throughout the year . Take a break from the bustle of the West end and enjoy a variety of themes of horticultural and botanical interest found in the grounds as well as attractive walks by the River Kelvin
Kibble Palace Glasshouse – This is an “A†listed 19th century, curvilinear iron structure of exquisite design and form. The Kibble Palace which now houses a forest of tree ferns was originally a private conservatory located at Coulport on Loch Long. It was moved to its present site in 1873 and originally used as a concert hall and meeting place, hosting speakers such as Disraeli and Gladstone. The Kibble Palace glasshouse at the Botanic Gardens has undergone a multimillion-pound restoration. This was completed in November 2006 and re-opened to the public
Main Range of glasshouses – This is a Victorian glasshouse originally built in teak in the early 1880s and has recently been restored.
There are several significant plant collections including large collection of tropical orchids , national collection of begonia species ,national collection of tree ferns and extensive tropical plant collections.
Enjoy the various gardens situated within the grounds including World Rose Garden, Herb Garden , Flower Garden, Uncommon Vegetable Garden and Chronological Garden
The Botanic Gardens also plays host an extensive range of events throughout the year including Exhibitions, concerts, and guided walks .
The Botanic Gardens are within easy reach of the Argyll Hotel Glasgow.

Bard in the Botanics
Bard in the Botanics – that is the Botanic Gardens Glasgow, is Scotland’s annual Shakespeare festival. This year it returns with a host of new productions offering laughter, drama and passion set against the stunning backdrop of Glasgow’s Botanic Gardens. This year’s festival includes performances of the ultimate battle of the sexes, “The Taming of the Shrew†(24th June – 11th July), the Bard’s most dangerous and thrilling tragedy, “Macbeth†(15th July – 1st August) and his most chilling and charismatic baddie, “Richard III†(16th July – 1st August).

Opening Times
The Gardens are open from 7.00am till dusk daily however the specific facilities within the park are subject to opening times.
Glasshouses: 10.00am – 4.45pm (4.15pm in winter)
