Glasgow Warriors Rugby Team
The Glasgow Warriors, formerly Glasgow Rugby, is the only professional rugby union team in Glasgow. There is only one other professional rugby union team in Scotland – Edinburgh. The Glasgow Warriors play in the Magners League and play at Firhill Stadium, also the home of Partick Thistle Football Club which has a capacity of 10,887. The Glasgow Warriors previous base was at Hughenden.
From June 2010 Glasgow Warriors head coach Sean Lineen will train his squad at Scotstoun sports complex which will also become a centre of excellence for rugby and a hub for rugby development as part of the Glasgow City development plan for the sport. The proposed move to Scotstoun in June 2010 will provide the club with a home for its players, coaches and staff in a location where they have all the facilities they require. The new training base of Glasgow Warriors at Scotstoun will give them direct access to both grass pitches and an all-weather surface, as well as access to all strength, conditioning and medical facilities.
The Glasgow Warriors, world class players, will soon have the facilities to match.
